The Cistercian abbey of Poblet is 5km far from the Castle. It is one of the largest monasteries in Spain. This monastery is one of the three milestones on the Cistercian Route, being the other two the monastery of Santes Creus and Vallbona de les Monges.
The austere and majestic enclosure includes a fortified royal residence. In the center of the Abbey, there is a twelfth century church which hosts the tombs of the kings of Catalonia and Aragon.
